thanks so much for the match ups, they're very appreciated ! :]

i had a question about the cottonelle. i called the kroger i was planning on going to and they said if the printable coupon came up as 'fradulent' they wouldn't take it .. which i completely understand. but why would they if they came off a reliable printable coupon site such as brick or smart source? have you had any issues about this? and what site do you use for your coupons?

i just want to avoid any fight period, especially over toilet paper LOL.

Thanks for asking that question!

Most of the "fradulent" coupons that the stores speak of when they say this over the phone (most will say the same thing no matter what store you call)are the ones that are high dollar value coupons and some of the PDF coupons that are floating around (since the PDF coupons can be altered).

For example: My favorite Kroger manager told me of a story about a lady that came in with $6 Kraft Cheese Internet coupons back over the summer.

I couldn't believe that someone would even try to use something like this because the cheese is no more than $3 and some change! Their are people out there that will make the attempts and that is what ruins it for the rest of us!

I have used coupons up to $3 in value and Kroger and have never had a problem with any of them!

Tip: If the coupon BEEPS then it will draw attention and if it is a Internet Printable then it draws more attention (that's just the way the coupon world works).

The most common IP coupons that beep are the Johnson's Buddies $1/1 coupons (many stores sale them for less than $1)I haven't had a problem with these either (most cashiers know to adjust them down to whatever the product costs).

It's really not a matter of whether or not they will accept them (you should have absolutely NO problems with the cottonelle IP's from my experience) but a matter of how many you are trying to use.

Coupon Use Ethics (my version):The amount of coupons that you use to purchase multiples of the same item.

If a store only carries 10 of one product on the shelf and you take all 10 AND use a coupon on each one...they will frown upon you and may not allow you to use all of your coupons on them (AKA some stores version of coupon abuse).

If you purchased that same 10 items but the stock on the item was 50 then a "yellow flag" may not be thrown your way.

The stores more or less look at the availability of a product for their customers.

If one customer (you) continually wipe out the shelves then you will have a hard time down the road purchasing items in bulk (hence "quantities limited" on Publix ads~this is why they started printing this statement on their weekly ads).

Most stores (i.e. Publix) will allow you to put in a special order for a particular product. This is a far better way to get the quantity that you need and still leave items on the shelf for other consumers! Many of the stores prefer that you handle it this way!

My argument has always been that if they only had 10 items on the shelf and someone bought them at full price...nothing would be said. If another person bought those same 10 items but they used a coupon on each item (assuming that the only reason you are purchasing that many is because it's either free or close to it)then their would be a problem. Doesn't make sense to me but that is the way most stores look at it.

I have ran into employees that have had a personal opinion of "nothing should be free" and for them I simply say that I don't feel that it is fair to be singled out as a problem maker (using tons of coupons each time I shop)just because I am a smart shopper. I usually hand them a business card and let them know that I could teach them how to cut their grocery bills in half too if they would like (this gesture includes a very friendly smile).

I could go on and on about situations that I have had where individual employees have given me a hard time because I use coupons. I understand that there are those who fraudulently use coupons but I am not one of them so it is a very testy subject for me (I do have an open mind about the fact that they may not know who I am and I can be more understanding to those who are polite when they question a coupon...it's the ones with the bad attitudes that get me sometimes)!

This is one of the few reasons why individuals stop using coupons.

There are a lot of discouraging moments that will test your willingness to keep using them.

When I teach my classes this is one of the points that I bring up. Discouragement, not being organized, and not being disciplined are the 3 ingredients to coupon disaster and are many times the 3 reasons that someone stops using coupons.

Sorry about the book...but I try to avoid fighting over things like toilet paper and noodles too!

Thanks for writing...Go and get your free TP! You shouldn't have any problems as long as it's in their policy to accept internet printable coupons (some stores may not accept them in general).

Forgot to tell you the sites!!!

I print a bulk of my coupons from the sites that are listed under my "LINKS" tab in the top right hand corner of the page.

(coupons.com, smartsource.com etc)

Take a look and see if their are some sites that you may have missed in the past!

Any coupons that I have printed out from this list have always worked in my shopping trips!

Thanks,
Lissa

Thank you so much for answering this!

I thought that was the case about people probably using 'fake' coupons they made or something dumb like that but I just wasn't sure about your experience with Kroger & the printables for the Cottonelle. I've never been to a kroger, so I thought I would ask someone with experience :p

I can't believe that people can do such things like that by scamming people or TRYING to atleast lol. I would feel so horrible if I accidentally even scammed someone, let alone if I did it on purpose :(

I hope they don't give me any problems. The place I seem to have the MOST problems is WALMART, oh my gosh lol. They give everyone a hassle from how it seems, so it makes me feel better knowing it's not just me.

I've tried couponing before, but I definitely wasn't organized and didn't really try to understand how to work deals & coupons together. But this time, I've bought a binder & loaded all of my coupons in & I'm always looking out for deals lol :P

I really appreciate all of your help. Your blog is really, really helpful :)!

And I definitely understand why some people quit couponing because sometimes I really feel like people are 'out to get me' just because I use coupons & get good deals lol :P I really love the people that go "oooh that's a lot of money saved. how did you do that?! lol"

oh yeah i forgot to include this. lol :p

i printed my coupons off of coupons.com or whatever the brick website is & smart source. the smart source ones look different from the printables i've used before, so i'm glad to know that they've worked fine for you and haven't came up 'fradulent' uggggh :P
