I just happened to stumble upon this deal while I was shopping at Kroger today. Right now Kroger is running a sale on various Ortega brand items. These items can be found on the Mexican food aisle.
On the boxes of Ortega Taco shells (I believe there were 12 in a box...the only box of this brand that Kroger carries.)there are pink peelies for $1 off of any 1 Ortega Item (Excludes Chilies & Seasonings).

Tip: If you use more than 2 of these coupons in 1 transaction the 3rd coupon+ will beep. Not sure why as there are no exclusions other than green chilies and seasonings (neither were purchased). The cashier had to manually override the coupon.

My Kroger had the shells on the manager special shelf for 0.88. They had placed the manager special sticker over the peel off sticker. When I tried to pull off the top sticker, the bottom one tore in half. Still a good deal without the coupon!
Thanks for letting us know, that is a great deal! I compared expiration dates on the taco shell boxes and it looks like the new stock items are the ones coming in with the peelies on them...keep an eye out for them! They should hit all of the stores this way...not just Kroger!
